Inter Miami have reportedly made an offer for 39-year-old Andres Iniesta to rejoin his former teammates Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.

Iniesta has spent the last five years at Vissel Kobe in Japan since leaving Barcelona, but is currently a free agent.

A report from RAC1 has claimed that the midfielder has offers from Saudi Arabia as well as Miami, and he will decide his next destination in the coming days.

He helped form one of the greatest midfield trios of all time alongside new Miami signing Busquets and current Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, and is regarded as one of the best players in the history of Spanish football.

Iniesta scored the winner as Spain won the World Cup in 2010, and has won every possible trophy at club level.

Could Iniesta make an impact in Miami?

Although the midfielder is far from being in his prime years, Iniesta could still offer a lot to Miami, who are bottom of the table in the MLS.

Iniesta made 134 appearances for Vissel Kobe, scoring 26 and assisting 25 times, but just six of these appearances came last season as he found his playing time reduced.

He could prove to be a useful short-term squad option given his experience and technical quality, but he may not be at the physical level any more to be a regular starter.

Nevertheless, the quality he can bring, as well as the leadership alongside Messi and Busquets, could make him a worthwhile signing on a free transfer for a season, and if he can help Miami make an unlikely charge for the playoffs, then his signing will be a masterstroke.

Iniesta made 52 appearances under new Miami head coach Gerardo Martino during his spell at Barcelona, scoring three times and providing 13 assists, and a Barcelona reunion in the MLS looks to be progressing as more big-name superstars are targeted.
