Inter Miami are reportedly close to signing Matias Rojas, but FIFA are currently holding up the deal due to the midfielder’s departure from Corinthians.
The Paraguay international has been strongly linked with a move to the Herons in recent days, with Inter Miami believed to have reached an agreement with Rojas to join the MLS franchise.
With Rojas having a messy departure from Brazilian side Corinthians, the 28-year-old is expected to sign for the Florida franchise as a free agent, though the technicalities of the transfer have put a deal on hold.
Inter Miami waiting for FIFA clearance to sign Matias Rojas

According to the Miami Herald’s Michelle Kaufman, everything is agreed between Inter Miami and Rojas to make the signing happen, but all parties are now waiting for FIFA to be cleared from his contract with Corinthians.
Indeed, Inter Miami might have to wait it out a bit longer to sign Rojas, yet all signs now seem to suggest that the deal will go through soon without a hitch.
Kaufman said: “According to my sources, it’s basically a done deal as far as he and the team go. He’s ready to go, he’s agreed to terms and even, I believe, has a visa.
“We asked Tata today about it and said they’re waiting for FIFA clearance. FIFA has to officially say he is cleared from his contract with Corinthians and that he is a free agent. That’s what Inter Miami are waiting for.”
Matias Rojas will add a lot to Tata Martino’s squad

Lauded by MLS Multiplex as an ‘exciting’ prospect for Inter Miami, Rojas’ arrival to Florida will be a welcome boost for Tata Martino and his attacking ranks.
The Paraguay international is a versatile forward who can operate in a number of positions, with Rojas also at the prime of his career heading into this latest chapter with Inter Miami.
Alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Rojas could become an underrated superstar for Inter Miami if he can hit the ground running in MLS, a prospect that will excite supporters greatly.
