Inter Miami unlikely to sign Eden Hazard this summer due to one player

Inter Miami are now extremely unlikely to sign Eden Hazard due to the arrival of Jordi Alba earlier this summer.

According to Spanish-based publication Sport, the route for the former Real Madrid superstar to join Inter Miami now looks closed after Inter Miami signed Alba last month, alongside Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

Whilst the Spanish international doesn’t hold a Designated Player spot, Inter Miami’s roster restraints mean that Hazard would be a difficult deal to pull off given how stretched the salary cap now is.

Madrid signed Hazard in 2019 for a reported $113m, a club-record for Los Blancos, yet the transfer would prove to be a disaster for the Spanish giants as the winger suffered injury after injury on top of fitness issues.

With Hazard now a free agent, a move to MLS has been suggested strongly this summer, with Inter Miami, naturally, a franchise that have been linked with the former Chelsea superstar.

However, this update seems to suggest that Inter Miami won’t be considering a move for Hazard, who he himself could now retire if he doesn’t find a new club this summer.

It’s easy to forget just how good a player Hazard was before his move to Madrid, yet with the deal happening four years ago, it feels like it’ll be impossible for the winger to ever return to his best.

Form, fitness and injuries have plagued the attacker’s career ever since moving to Spain in 2019, and Inter Miami would be well within their right to reject the idea of signing Hazard.

Whilst the forward might find his deadly spark again, Inter Miami are smart enough to know that Hazard might be a project worth missing out on, especially with Messi already on their payroll.
