Luis Suarez is reportedly one step closer to joining Inter Miami after Tata Martino last night announced that Josef Martinez will leave the club.

According to journalist Jaime Ojeda, the surprise transfer announcement yesterday will now open the door for the Uruguay and FC Barcelona legend to join Inter Miami in January.

Since Lionel Messi’s move to Inter Miami this summer, Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to the Florida franchise.

And the time now seems to be upon us, with the forward set to leave Brazilian side Gremio this December, freeing up a move to Inter Miami in 2024.

With Martinez now leaving the MLS side, the Herons now have the squad space needed to complete the transfer, with Messi certainly to be happy with the decision.

Inter Miami’s first full season with Messi on their books could be one to remember for MLS, and having Suarez as well on the roster could make the league cake walk for the Herons.

However, Martino’s side need more than just the veteran striker if they’re to compete for top honors in 2024, with Suarez the first of many puzzle pieces Inter Miami need to fill this January.

Indeed, the striker is a great start, but with midfield and defence in need of recruits, Inter Miami have to ensure that they get their winter signings spot on, with Suarez the perfect first move.
