Luis Suarez will reportedly take a pay cut to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, with the Gremio striker closing in on a move to MLS.
According to Sport, the veteran Uruguayan striker is keen on moving to Florida to reunite with the likes of Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, with Suarez now willing take a reduced salary to accommodate the move.
Inter Miami have all three Designated Players currently filled following the arrivals of Messi and Busquets, and this latest update seemingly indicates that Suarez won’t take up space beyond the salary cap to sign for Inter Miami.

As per the report, there’s a small chance that Suarez could sign for Inter Miami this summer. Though the more likely option is that the forward moves to Miami in the January, where the striker’s contract with Gremio expires.
With Inter Miami having the tiniest of chances to qualify for the MLS play-offs, signing Suarez in 2024 could be the smart play from the Florida franchise, especially with Messi and company all climatized to the league by then.
Indeed, Suarez could be the final piece of the puzzle for Tata Martino’s side in their quest for US domination. And the forward wanting to take a pay cut to make the transfer possible is an encouraging update.
Suarez could lead Inter Miami to MLS glory in 2024

Suarez is unlikely to be the last superstar tempted to join Inter Miami in part to Messi’s involvement with the franchise. Yet the forward could be key in the Florida side winning silverware next year for the first time ever.
Even at the age of 36, Suarez is one of the deadliest finishers in soccer and an attacker who knows how to play with Messi better than anyone in the market, with MLS also an ideal league for the Uruguayan’s style of play.
Whilst 2024 might feel like an eternity away, Suarez has the chance to lead Inter Miami to glory next year, and the signing could be massive in Messi taking his game to another level in MLS.
