Inter Miami are soon set to announce the signing of Colo-Colo defender Maximiliano Falcon as their third addition of the January transfer window.

The Uruguayan center-back has been pursued by the Herons for quite some time now, with Inter Miami having a bid rejected for Falcon as Colo-Colo put up a good fight to keep their star defender for the remainder of the year.

However, Inter Miami now look to have won the fight for the 27-year-old, with Falcon set to join the reigning Supporters’ Shield champions this month as Javier Mascherano looks to bolster his squad for the new MLS season.

And Falcon has now revealed what action he made took to push through his pending transfer to Inter Miami.

Falcon admits he put ‘pressure’ on Colo-Colo to sell him to Inter Miami

Speaking to TNT Sports, Falcon revealed that he put ‘pressure’ on Colo-Colo to sell him to Inter Miami after discovering how much the Flordia franchise were offering to sign the Uruguayan defender, with the center-back admitting that ‘negotiations were difficult’.

Falcon missed the start of Colo-Colo’s pre-season preparations in an attempt to push through a move to Inter Miami, a decision that angered supporters yet ultimately worked as the Copa Libertadores star now looks set to join Mascherano’s side.

And Falcon has now revealed everything about what he did to win his move to Inter Miami, with the defender saying: “When I traveled there and found out about the money they had, I made the decision to put on the pressure because I didn’t want to lose this opportunity.

“As a manager or president, thinking that you have an important player, it’s difficult to get hit with this bombshell. It’s difficult to go through the processes in football and even though it’s been reached and the club is left with a lot of money. The negotiations were difficult.”

Who else could Inter Miami sign after securing Falcon?

With Inter Miami signing Fafa Picault and this week announcing the loan arrival of Tadeo Allende, the Herons have found their groove in the market with Falcon set to become the third addition of Mascherano’s reign at Chase Stadium.

And the former Argentina youth coach is unlikely to stop there, with Inter Miami reaching an agreement to sign Telasco Segovia from Portuguese side Casa Pia with Gonzalo Lujan also set to join the Herons from San Lorenzo.

Indeed, a plan is being executed by Inter Miami to improve the squad ahead of the 2025 MLS season, and more additions could be around the corner the longer the January transfer window rumbles on.
