Inter Miami has another reinforcement on the way.
According to The Athletic’s Tom Bogert, the Herons have finally landed their Kamal Miller replacement with 29-year-old Nicolas Freire.
“Inter Miami finalizing a deal to sign center-back Nicolas Freire on loan from Pumas,” the tweet said.
“Freire, turning 30 next month, has made 129 apps with Pumas.”
Freire stands at 6’2″ and has a vast amount of experience. With the season slowly approaching, Miami needed a defensive reinforcement.
Inter Miami defensive issues solved

A couple of weeks ago, Miami traded starting center back Kamal Miller for $625,000 in General Allocation Money. Though many fans criticized the trade, it appears that the money will now go toward buying down contracts, so the team can have more cap space.
With Freire set to join the club, Miami will have an experienced center-back who has better underlying numbers than the aforementioned Miller.
“Without tipping what we’re going to do in trades, I do feel that we need to have competition in every spot,” said Club CSO Chris Henderson.
“We’re evaluating every department in our front office and performance staff, to support [Tata Martino] and his staff and all the players to make sure we’re performing everywhere in the club.”

As far as reinforcements go, Miami has already brought in Luis Suarez, Julian Gressel and will soon finalize the deal to bring in Freire.
Although there’s still plenty of time before the season starts, it looks like the Herons got the bulk of their roster business done.
