Tata Martino has hinted that Inter Miami could soon be about to announce a new signing after last night’s win against Nashville SC.

The Herons kept up their winning streak with an impressive victory in Florida, with Lionel Messi scoring a brace as Sergio Busquets finally opened his account for Inter Miami with a neat header from the Argentine superstar.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Inter Miami, though, as Diego Gomez was stretchered off with a potential ankle injury, adding to Martino’s problems having just got Benjamin Cremaschi back from a long-term fitness issue.

Yet Inter Miami could be about to make a signing that might remedy this blow.

Martino hints that Matias Rojas could soon officially join Inter Miami

Speaking to the Miami Herald, Martino strongly indicated that Inter Miami could soon announce the signing of Paraguayan midfielder Matias Rojas, who this week accidentally appeared on the Herons’ official website as a registered player.

Martino said when asked if the signing of Rojas was close to being announced: “I can’t talk about players we don’t have. Maybe wait a few more days and then we can talk.”

With Gomez potentially spending some time out on the sideline, the signing of Rojas could not be announced at a more perfect time, with the versatile 28-year-old someone who could be ideal for Inter Miami’s squad.

Indeed, the former Corinthians star can play in both midfield and out wide in the attack, and Rojas could be an ideal short-term replacement for Gomez, with the return of Cremaschi also a big boost for Inter Miami.

New Inter Miami arrival could now have come at a better time

Inter Miami’s signings outside of Messi in recent months have been impressive, and there’s every reason to believe that Rojas could be another hit, especially with the timing of the deal.

Gomez’s potential lay-off on the treatment table means there’s a glaring spot in Inter Miami’s team that needs filling, and fellow Paraguayan Rojas could be the man to replace the 21-year-old in the squad.

With only MLS to focus on, as well, Rojas will be joining a team where he will be given time to adapt, with the midfielder likely to make a big impact once officially through the doors at Inter Miami.
