Wayne Rooney has given his verdict on Luis Suarez reportedly joining Inter Miami, with the DC United coach labeling the deal as another ‘huge’ move for MLS.
Speaking to the press via Stadium Astro for MLS All-Star week, the former Manchester United and England captain praised Inter Miami’s transfer business this summer that has seen Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and now Jordi Alba all join the club.
And according to journalist Gaston Edul, Inter Miami are now in talks to sign Suarez from Brazilian side Gremio, with the Uruguay international one of Messi’s best-ever attacking teammates and a player who has long been linked with a move to MLS

Indeed, adding Suarez to the mix would be quite the move from Inter Miami. And for Rooney, the decision to bring the former FC Barcelona and Liverpool marksman to MLS could be another huge move in the right direction for the franchise and for the league.
Rooney said on the Suarez rumor and Inter Miami’s latest transfers: “Messi comes, Busquets comes, I’ve heard Suarez might come, Jordi Alba is coming, so for Inter Miami it’s going to be very interesting to see how they fit all them in. But I think, for the league, it’s huge.”
Inter Miami could dominate MLS if they sign Suarez

Inter Miami’s playoff chances might seem next-to-impossible this season. Yet if the Herons can add Suarez to their roster for the 2024 campaign, there’s every chance that Tata Martino’s side can dominate MLS for the next two years.
As we know, the striker, even at the age of 36, is still lethal in front of goal. And a reunion with Messi with Josef Martinez in support could be an all-time great MLS front-three, with Suarez more than good enough to compete at the highest level in North America.
