Federico Redondo has been likened to his father, Real Madrid legend Fernando Redondo, after Inter Miami’s MLS clash against CF Montreal.
The midfielder made his second start for the Herons and his MLS debut after joining Inter Miami last month from Argentinos Juniors, with the 21-year-old reportedly snubbing FC Barcelona and Madrid.
Regarded as one of the best prospects in all of South America, Redondo’s first game for Inter Miami earlier in the week against Nashville almost resulted in the midfielder being sent off, yet today was a different story.
Federico Redondo likened to Real Madrid legend after Inter Miami display

Speaking on Apple TV’s coverage of Inter Miami’s fixture against Montreal, pundit Taylor Twellman was full of praise for Redondo, with the Argentine likened to his father, Madrid legend Fernando.
One of Los Blancos’ most influential players in the 1990s, Redondo senior remains a well-respected figure in the Spanish capital, and Federico today showed for Inter Miami that he’s learned some key lessons from his father.
Indeed, the 21-year-old has often been likened to Sergio Busquets, and the Inter Miami youngster showed today in the holding midfield role that he has the potential to succeed the Barcelona legend in the game.
Twellman said: “This is the profile that Redondo has. He’s so similar to his father, his ability to open up the field, you can see why Bayern Munich, Ajax, all these clubs in Europe were all over him.”
Herons have a potential MLS superstar on their hands

Inter Miami’s newfound reputation has made the MLS side an alluring landing spot for many players, yet the signing of Redondo could prove to be their biggest and best.
The midfielder showed today against Montreal why some of Europe’s elite were interested in signing Redondo this January, with the youngster looking wise beyond his years for the Herons.
And for Inter Miami, Redondo has the potential to become a superstar for the Florida franchise, with a move to Europe seemingly already in the pipeline for the 21-year-old in the next 18 months.
