The 2024 season is around the corner for Inter Miami.
Many fans and pundits are curious as to how the Herons will line up when they kick off their season against Real Salt Lake on February 21st.
After his end-of-year comments in late 2023, Chris Henderson was adamant that the Herons would improve over the off season.
We’re looking at everything to [improve the squad.] We have high hopes for 2024, and we want to show what we can do as a club,” Henderson stated.
“Winning trophies and having high ambition is something we’ve had since day one.”
He continued: “We’re evaluating every department in our front office and performance staff, to support [Tata Martino] and his staff and all the players to make sure we’re performing everywhere in the club.”
Inter Miami’s opening day starting XI

Already, Miami has added the likes of Luis Suarez, Julian Gressel and center-back Nicolas Freire. Additonally, the Herons will have depth off the bench with players like Robert Taylor, Corentin Jean, Jean Mota and more.
When Miami takes on Real Salt Lake on February 21st, their opening lineup could look like this:

The 3-5-2 appears to be Tata Martino’s go-to formation.
In the Heron’s first two preseason games, Martino stuck with the same formation to give the team enough defensive support to snuff out counterattacks. Though offensively the team still needs to click, with Messi within the side, it’s only a matter of time.
Although there’s still plenty of time before the season starts, Miami fans will want to see some action in the final third. As the Herons take a trip to Saudi Arabia, those goals will come soon.
