Former Inter Miami star Rodolfo Pizarro has spoken out on his struggles in the MLS, he’s put it down to one thing.
The Mexican midfielder moved to Miami in 2020 from Monterrey, where he became the club’s second designated player.
His debut against the Philadelphia Union also saw him score, but his fast approach could not be continued.
Pizarro’s signing was controversial however with Monterrey claiming to FIFA that Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham had ‘improper conduct’ with Pizarro while he was under contract with the club.

Pizarro reveals reason for Inter Miami struggles
While Pizarro spent two seasons with the Herons he struggled to truly make the desired impact that many had hoped.
Inter Miami as a club were still building while Pizarro was with the side and they failed to finish above 10th.
Pizarro missed out on the arrival of Lionel Messi who has changed the team’s fortunes drastically.
Messi was named the MLS MVP for 2024 and his professionalism is constantly praised by his current Inter Miami teammates.
Pizarro himself spoke about how his professionalism perhaps caused his MLS struggles. Speaking to Fox Sports Radio he said: “My decisions were bad. Maybe I wasn’t focused, I wasn’t taking care of myself the way I should have been and I wasn’t training the way I should have been training.”

Pizarro could not turn down Inter Miami approach
Although some controversial circumstances saw Pizarro eventually arrive at Inter Miami the star explained how he couldn’t say no to David Beckham.
The Mexican star was ‘promised the number 10 shirt’ by Beckham in an exchange between the two.
Pizarro said: “It was difficult to say no to that proposal. The one who spoke to me and video-called me was David Beckham, he told me that he wanted to give me the number ’10’, they wanted to pay my clause.”
Sadly during his time with the Herons Pizarro’s playmaking abilities were rarely seen.

Inter Miami will be hoping that new midfielder Telasco Segovia can have more of an impact on the team.
The Herons face a tough MLS opener against New York City FC in Mascherano’s first game.
