Inter Miami target Luis Suárez will leave Gremio at the end of December.

Speaking to ESPN Brazil after the Imortal Tricolor’s most recent win, manager Renato Gaucho confirmed that his star striker will leave the team: “It’s a great sadness for everyone. He arrived since the beginning of the year, he has helped us a lot, the fans were enchanted with him.”

“Are we going to miss him? Certainly, without a doubt, he is very loved by everyone. I had the pleasure of working with a great professional, one of the best in the world, fourth highest scorer in the world.”

Suárez joined Gremio in January after a 16-game stint with boyhood club Nacional in 2022.

The former Ajax forward has thrived in Brazil, netting 14 goals and 11 assists through 31 matches this year.

Should Suárez join Inter Miami in the winter, he’ll be reunited with ex-teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

Inter Miami is going through a slight roster revamp.

Though the Herons won their first trophy in club history in the summer with the Leagues Cup, they ultimately failed to make the postseason.

In 2024, the organization is looking to fix the mistakes that plagued them in 2023.

According to club Sporting Director Chris Henderson, Inter Miami will be active within the trade market to freshen up the squad: “Without tipping what we’re going to do in trades, I do feel that we need to have competition in every spot.”

Miami wants to win more silverware. The men in pink will play in several domestic and international competitions in 2024, and adding more quality to the squad is essential.

As the next season creeps closer, the Herons will undoubtedly be one of the favorites to challenge for MLS Cup.
