Lionel Messi is normal after all.

Inter Miami midfielder Edison Azcona spilled all the details behind Messi’s first few weeks at the club in an interview with Infobae.

Azcona discussed various topics about the World Cup winner, including the gifts he gave to the team after their Leagues Cup victory against Cruz Azul, whether he speaks English, and the personal advice he gave out during training.

“He sang at a dinner for us on the first trip he had with the team,” Azcona said. “DeAndre Yedlin and Victor Ulloa were the ones in charge of encouraging him. They were saying he had to sing. First, Jordi went to sing, Sergio also and Leo went last.”

“Everyone gets along well with him. He is a very good person, humble. Sometimes we travel and there are people waiting outside at 5:00 am for [Messi.]”

Based on the midfielder’s words, it’s evident that Messi is extremely down-to-earth despite his otherworldly attributes on the pitch.

The Argentine joined Inter Miami in the summer to immediate success, leading the team to its first trophy in club history with a Leagues Cup victory.

Though the team didn’t make the playoffs this season, 2024 looks promising. With potential new superstars on the way to help the squad out, the club will want to challenge for more silverware.

It’s no shock that Messi is a humble man.

There have been stories from his time at Paris Saint Germain about his shy persona.

Not only did Messi bring a significant amount of viewers to Major League Soccer, but his attitude has been a positive influence on Miami’s youngsters on the team: “He gave me soccer advice when I have spoken to him,” Azcona continued. “When I go to receive a ball, he suggests an option to control it and choose a better alternative over another.”

Messi has changed Inter Miami and the league for the better. His status and play on the field have helped the Herons go from a team lingering at the bottom of the Eastern Conference to a side that fought to make the playoffs til the end.

With 2024 on the horizon, Messi will continue to be a beacon of positivity for the club heading forward.
