Inter Miami fans have been blessed in recent weeks with the club being linked with a host of top-named stars and being drawn in the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, it’s not always good news being a football fan as the Herons are finding out today.
Midfielder Diego Gomez is set to leave for the Premier League and now there is a possibility that another star midfield could be on the way out.
New Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano and the club’s hierarchy announced their list of players retained for the 2025 MLS season on Monday. Jordi Alba is among those who is staying.
However, Herons fans have spotted that a top talent has been made available for the MLS Expansion Draft. This means that newcomers San Diego would be able to add anyone on the list to their roster.
Matias Rojas could be heading for Inter Miami exit
A number of players have been made available by Inter Miami for the upcoming MLS Expansion draft, these players include the likes of Julian Gressel, Sergi Kryvtsov and Franco Negri.
However, one player that has made the list has shocked many fans… Matias Rojas.
The Paraguayan played 16 matches for Inter Miami this season scoring five goals and assisting two more.
The attacking midfielder played a key part in helping the club to secure a record regular season points haul of 74.
It now appears though that the club would be happy to move on from the player after having the option to potentially protect the player from the draft.
Inter Miami fans react to Rojas news
Reacting to the news many Inter Miami fans were left shocked by the decision to leave Rojas unprotected.
One fan wrote: “We cant afford to lose Rojas.”
Another hopefully put: “Can the player reject the move?”
A further fan said: “NO NOT ROJAS.”
Some fans are hoping that other players are selected ahead of Rojas.
“God I hope they select Gressel”, one said.
Another put: “Can’t we just offer them 5 for free?”
Fans will be able to see if Rojas is selected by San Diego FC when the Expansion Draft takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
