After their season finale loss to Charlotte FC, Inter Miami will take a week off before heading back to training ahead of their November friendlies in China.

Miami ended the year away on Saturday, losing to Charlotte in what was a disappointing match for the Herons.

The South Florida team looked sluggish, and out of sorts, as head coach Tata Martino experimented with tactics.

Inter Miami ends the 2023 season failing to make the playoffs. After winning the Leagues Cup in the summer, many believed that the men in pink could use that momentum to make the post-season. Unfortunately, injuries and fatigue plagued the team, which saw them miss out on playing for the MLS Cup.

Speaking to the Miami Herald after the match, Martino talked about the squad’s state and detailed why the team lost energy as the season went on: “We had many competitions, a change of coach and roster changes in the middle of those competitions, and it was difficult to maintain the same form over four months.”

Miami will now rest up, and take a week off before they head back to training for their November friendlies against Qingdao Hainiu FC and Chengdu Rongcheng.

Though Inter Miami’s fairy tale season came to an end, there are still plenty of things to look forward to in the imminent future.

For one, several rumors suggest that Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez could be on his way to the team. That would give Miami a much-needed boost in attack.

Additionally, Martino will have a full off-season to work on tactics and bring in the player personnel that will suit his style of play.

Furthermore, Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets will get some much-needed rest after a harsh end to the year.

In the end, though Miami didn’t make the playoffs, they have plenty to look forward to next season.
