Luis Suárez’s move to Inter Miami is imminent.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 36-year-old will finish the last details on his contract before officially becoming an Inter Miami player.

“Luis Suárez said goodbye to Gremio fans… and he’s now set to fix the final details of his contract in order to become new Inter Miami player,” Romano said on an X post.

“Deal will be valid for one year, also considering an option for further season.”

On December 3rd, the Uruguayan played his last home match for Brazilian club Gremio. The ex-Liverpool man scored the game’s only goal, beating Vasco da Gama 1-0, as he emotionally bowed out for the final time at the Arena do Gremio.

Although the Imortal Tricolor will play its last match of the season on December 6th, according to Romano, Suárez is officially a free agent. This paves the way for ‘Lucho’ to reunite with his former Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets in South Florida.

Injury Concerns?

There have been multiple reports regarding Suárez’s chronic knee issues.

In an interview with Uruguayan radio station, Sport 890, the striker spoke about his medical treatment before every game: “The days before each game I take three pills and hours before playing I get an injection. If not, I can’t play. Hence the limp.”

“I have to think that in maybe five years I won’t be able to play five-a-side football with my friends. The truth is that the first steps in the morning are very painful.”

Despite the pain management the Uruguayan goes through, Suárez still managed to tally up 26 G/A through 32 matches this year.

Inter Miami has made it known they’re interested in ‘El Pistolero’s’ services.

Head coach Tata Martino told the press in mid-October that the organization is analyzing 2024 with and without Suárez: “Within our analysis of the upcoming season, and the needs we may have, we have an analysis with Luis and an analysis without Luis. So when the moment arrives to make Suarez’s situation with respect to Inter Miami official, we’ll be prepared to go in the corresponding direction.”

Whatever direction Miami and Suárez decide to take, the world will find out in the coming days.
