Inter Miami will get its first taste of Champions Cup football.

On October 24th, CONCACAF, the governing body of soccer for the Caribbean, North, and Central America, released its schedule for the highly anticipated 2024 iteration of the Champions Cup.

Similar to the UEFA Champions League, the Champions Cup is an international competition where teams from the Caribbean, North, and Central America fight to become the top club in the region.

LIGA MX side Leon are the current holders of the title, as they managed to beat LAFC 5-2 across aggregate in May’s two-legged final.

2024 will be the first time Inter Miami will enter the tournament. The Herons qualified for the competition by winning the Leagues Cup in late August, giving the team a first-round bye. They won’t officially start playing in the contest until the Round of 16 in early to mid-March.

Though the men in pink didn’t make the MLS playoffs, they’ll have plenty of games to look forward to next year.

When Inter Miami owners David Beckham and Jorge and Jose Mas launched the club, the trio dreamed of winning trophies.

In 2023, the team did that and then some, winning the aforementioned Leagues Cup and narrowly missing out on a US Open Cup victory.

Next season will see the South Florida club play for even more silverware in the Champions Cup. The competition won’t be easy, as MLS sides have historically struggled. The Seattle Sounders bucked that trend in 2022 beating Mexican team Pumas in the final.

If Miami wants to replicate that success, they’ll need to add depth to its roster.

With reports indicating that Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez could join the team in the winter, Inter Miami will potentially acquire a world-class attacking talent playing alongside its talisman Lionel Messi.

As 2024 creeps closer, Miami will want to put its best foot forward in every game they play in.
