Journalist Michelle Kaufman has now detailed why Federico Redondo didn’t play for Inter Miami against the LA Galaxy on Sunday.
The Herons announced the signing of the Argentine youth international on Friday after weeks of speculation and rumors surrounding Inter Miami’s pursuit of Redondo.
Having beaten the likes of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid to the 21-year-old, there was a general expectation that Redondo might have been signed in time to feature for Inter Miami against the Galaxy.
Reason now revealed on why Federico Redondo didn’t play for Inter Miami vs LA Galaxy
Yet as per Kaufman on Twitter, Redondo didn’t feature for the Herons in California on Sunday due to Inter Miami awaiting for the midfielder’s paperwork to go through.
Given the nature of the signing and the speed at which Inter Miami had to complete the transfer, it makes sense that Redondo’s switch to the MLS giants wasn’t completed in time heading into last weekend’s fixture.
However, with Inter Miami’s next fixture taking place on Saturday against Florida rivals Orlando City, there is a good chance that the 21-year-old midfielder will now be legible to play for Tata Martino’s side.
Indeed, Redondo’s arrival is a big one for the Herons, and the Argentine youth international could be the missing piece in the midfield the MLS franchise are missing if they’re to take their game to a whole new level.
Inter Miami will want to get down to real work with squad now complete

Redondo is the final piece of the puzzle for Inter Miami heading into the first half of the MLS season, with the Herons now looking as strong as any team ever in the history of the division.
And after a good start to new campaign, Inter Miami will now want to get down to serious work, with some huge games coming up for the Florida franchise both in the league and in the CONCACAF Champions Cup,
The talent is there from Lionel Messi to Redondo, and the Herons now need to start showing the world what they’re capable of with their new-look team after this final addition from Argentina.
