Inter Miami and Lionel Messi continue to make history.

Not only does the Fort Lauderdale-based team have one of the best-selling football kits in North America, but they’re also primed for an exciting 2024.

According to Sporting Director Chris Henderson, Miami is amid a roster refresh. During his end-of-year conference, Henderson stated that the Herons will be active in the transfer market.

“We’re looking at everything to [improve the squad.] We have high hopes for 2024, and we want to show what we can do as a club,” he said.

“Winning trophies and having high ambition is something we’ve had since day one.”

Already, Inter Miami has added striker Luis Suarez to the squad and is working on bringing free agent wing back Julian Gressel as well.

On the pitch, the Herons had a somewhat successful 2023.

Spearheaded by Lionel Messi, Inter Miami won its first trophy in club history with the Leagues Cup in August.

The triumph saw the South Florida club skyrocket into the upper echelon of world football. Due to the new-found popularity, Miami immediately became a recognized global brand.

According to Footy Headlines, Inter Miami became one of the five Major League Soccer teams that sold over 100,000 jerseys in 2023.

This means that the Herons will be eligible to release a third kit this upcoming season.

“Since Messi’s move to Inter Miami, the MLS tournament has become more popular, attracting more attention and followers,” the article said.

“Adidas already decided to return to releasing third kits for MLS teams again before Messi joined. However, it seems possible that Inter Miami only got one because of Messi – MLS teams need to sell a specific number of kits (rumored to be 100,000) to get third kits.”

It’s no surprise that Miami has one of the best-selling shirts in the league.

Since Messi’s arrival, the Herons have become known everywhere, with people of all ages donning the Argentine’s pink home kit.

As 2024 approaches, expect Miami to look for more success not only off the field but on it as well.
