Inter Miami’s pre-season schedule continues to pile up.

According to the Brazilian outlet Globo, Miami and Flamengo are in talks to potentially play an exhibition match in January.

Globo reports that Flamengo will travel to the States in mid-January before playing a friendly against Inter Miami in the latter half of the month. Other teams in talks to play Flamengo are River Plate and Atlético Nacional.

The Mengão currently sit fifth in the Brazilian Serie A, just three points off the top spot.

For Inter Miami, the club will want to bounce back with a strong showing in 2024’s pre-season. Despite winning the Leagues Cup this summer, the Herons couldn’t keep up that momentum and failed to make the playoffs.

Miami won’t want to repeat those mistakes heading into the next season. Pre-season friendlies will be important for the men in pink.

Manager Tata Martino told a group of reporters ahead of the team’s November 10th match-up vs. NYCFC that the organization will look to play matches abroad in preparation for 2024.

Should Miami take on Flamengo, it would be an ideal way to test the team’s chemistry and tactical readiness.

Inter Miami’s 2024 is shaping up to be a historic season.

Not only will the team have a month and a half of rest, but the reported incoming signing of Luis Suárez will also turn a lot of heads.

Miami will hope that its pre-season schedule will lay the foundation for a positive 2024.

The Herons finished this year by missing out on the playoffs, which left a bitter taste in the mouths of many of the players. Looking ahead to next season, Miami will undoubtedly be the favorite to challenge for MLS Cup.

A flattering performance in pre-season will help turn the tide after a lackluster end to 2023.
