One Inter Miami midfielder is reportedly set to leave the team.

According to a report from journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, Dixon Arroyo won’t continue with Inter Miami in 2024.

“Inter Miami is looking for the departure of Dixon Arroyo because it has enough players in that position and needs to free up space to incorporate,” the post read in Spanish.

“There are possibilities that he will go to another MLS club, but there is nothing advanced yet.”

Arroyo arrived at the club when they needed him the most.

When co-captain Gregore went down with a foot injury that kept him out for a prolonged period of time, Arroyo filled the void.

Now that Gregore has returned to full fitness, and youngsters Benjamin Cremaschi and David Ruiz have contributed meaningful minutes, Arroyo quickly became a surplus on the roster. Though the Ecuadorian partnered well with Sergio Busquets and started nearly every game of Miami’s Leagues Cup-winning campaign, Arroyo’s services are no longer required.

Many other players will be leaving the organization in the coming months as Miami plans on revamping its squad.

Arroyo was a serviceable midfielder during his time at Inter Miami. The team will miss the 31-year-old when he departs.

When he was on the field for the Herons, his long-range passing ability and budding partnership with Busquets were a large reason why Miami was able to get to the Leagues Cup Final.

Furthermore, his positive energy was infectious as it visibly spread through his teammates on the pitch.

While it will be difficult to see the midfielder leave, Miami has big plans for 2024.

Sporting Director Chris Henderson has already mentioned that the team will look to re-tool the roster through the trade market: “Without tipping what we’re going to do in trades, I do feel that we need to have competition in every spot.”

Arroyo is the first of several other players who will leave the team over the winter window.
