Inter Miami may still travel to Asia after all.

According to a report from the South China Morning Post, Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will reportedly travel to Hong Kong to take part in the 2024 Lunar New Year Cup.

This comes months after Inter Miami’s two-game friendly trip to China in November fell through due to behind-the-scenes issues.

The Morning Post claims that negations are underway to bring the David Beckham-owned team to the east: “Inter Miami and related parties are working on the process … there is a chance this will happen.”

Despite the report, the Post says that it remains to be seen who Miami would face at the event, but that talks are still ongoing.

The Lunar New Year lands on February 10th, 2024. Should the plans come to fruition, presumably, the games would take place after the festivities.

There have been plenty of reports surrounding Miami’s pre-season plans.

Though nothing officially has been announced, the Herons want to play as many games as possible.

Speaking to the Miami Herald, Miami manager Tata Martino has spoken about the team’s intentions, stating that they’ll have a busy off-season.

Miami wants to continue to win more silverware.

2024 will be the real start of Inter Miami’s Messi project. The club is, undoubtedly, in a position to seriously challenge for MLS Cup. Although they failed to make the post-season in 2023, the desire and hunger to improve is palpable for the team. A full month and a half rest for Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba will help the trio recover in time for next season.

Additionally, the rumors that Luis Suárez could join the team bring extra excitement to an anxious Miami fan base.

Whatever pre-season plans Miami has, one thing is certain: The Herons will be putting in the work to add to the club’s trophy cabinet.
