Inter Miami has its sights on the 2024 season.

With a disappointing end to the year that saw the team fail to make the playoffs, the Herons are aiming to make 2024 its best season yet.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the club’s match against NYCFC on Friday, head coach Tata Martino said Inter Miami’s pre-season plans include training and potential friendlies against difficult competition abroad.

Martino says that the team will return to the club’s training facilities on January 7th, where they’ll partake in pre-season medicals before jumping into official practice sessions on the 10th.

Miami ended 2023 on a sour note, missing out on the post-season. Although they won its first trophy in club history, the failure to make the playoffs left a sting on an otherwise successful season.

As the club pivots to 2024, expect the team to fix the tactical mistakes that plagued them during the latter half of the year.

An early pre-season will be beneficial for Inter Miami in the long run.

The Herons want to challenge for more silverware next season and in order to achieve that goal, team identity and tactical fluidity are a must.

Starting pre-season on January 10th, in addition to potentially playing friendlies abroad will help the men in pink fine-tune its tactics and build team chemistry.

Though the club won the Leagues Cup this summer, the failure to make the playoffs was disappointing for the organization.

Miami won’t want to make the same mistakes next season.

With reports indicating that Luis Suárez will join the team in the winter, and a full off-season of rest for Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, Inter Miami will likely be favorites to challenge for MLS Cup in 2024.
