Inter Miami are reportedly closing in on a move for Argentine midfielder Federico Redondo, with the 21-year-old set to make the switch to MLS.

Rumors this weekend have strongly suggested that the Argentinos Juniors youngster is ready to make the move to Florida, with Inter Miami putting an $8m bid on the table for Redondo.

With the likes of Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing the Argentine youth international, Inter Miami landing Redondo would be quite the move.

And although the Herons have already landed a superstar this year in Luis Suarez, signing Redondo could be even bigger than the Uruguay international’s capture last month.

If fit, Suarez is arguably the most dangerous striker in MLS, with the veteran attacker showing last season with Gremio that he still has all the skills needed to flourish at the highest level.

Yet that doesn’t make the forward Inter Miami’s best signing of the year, especially with one of soccer’s greatest-ever goalscorers in Lionel Messi already at the club.

Which is why Redondo could be as big a signing for the Herons as Suarez, with the midfielder offering something that Inter Miami are currently lacking; a true superstar in the making.

Indeed, there’s good reason why some of Europe’s biggest clubs are chasing Redondo, and Inter Miami winning the race would send a serious statement to the rest of the world.

Beating out the likes of Bayern and Madrid to a signing is quite some achievement for any club, yet it’s almost a blue moon even for the team in question to be from MLS.

The premier soccer division in America has taken huge steps in recent years in trying to become the league that young South American players want to play for.

And Redondo could be the biggest coup MLS land if Inter Miami can strike a deal with Argentinos Juniors, with the Herons landing a potential superstar on their hands in the 21-year-old.
