Luis Suárez is on his way to Inter Miami.

According to sources at ESPN Uruguay, the forward will be heading to Major League Soccer to reunite with Messi in the winter.

Though there’s no official confirmation from the club themselves, several reports suggest that the ex-Barcelona man is on his way to South Florida.

This news comes weeks after a slurry of rumors linking the striker to the club. ESPN Uruguay claims that Miami and Suárez have reached an agreement after a month of negotiations. The contract will reportedly be for one year with a club option to extend in 2025.

With Suárez set to join the squad, many Inter Miami fans have concerns about his age. Suárez will turn 37 in January.

The Uruguayan is known to have reoccurring knee issues. There were even reports that the forward may retire early due to the incessant pain.

However, his form for current club Gremio seems to suggest otherwise.

In 26 games for the Brazilian side, Suárez has tallied up 20 G/A in all competitions. Furthermore, he’s also the team’s leading scorer, three goals ahead of the second-closest player, midfielder Franco Cristaldo.

The Brazilian Serie A is known to be a physical league. With its tough tackling defenders, players often resort to creativity and smart movement to avoid rough contact.

However, Suárez has thrived in that environment, keeping Gremio in the fight to finish within the top four with just seven matches left in the season.

Despite his age, the Uruguayan has shown that he’s capable of beating defenders and scoring at will. When he transitions to MLS, expect his playing style to be no different. Alongside Messi, El Pistolero will make Miami’s attack more dynamic in the final third.

His knack for beating defenders, and his play-making abilities, will help Inter Miami in its hunt to win more silverware in 2024.
