Botafogo have reportedly made a rival bid to sign Boca Juniors midfielder Cristian Medina after Inter Miami submitted their own offer.
The 21-year-old Argentine prospect has been strongly linked with a move away from the South American giants in recent days, with Inter Miami making a reported $12m offer for Medina this week.
However, Tata Martino’s side aren’t the only side interested in signing Medina, who has now caught the eye of Brazilian giants Botafogo, who have now made their own move for the midfielder.

According to TyC Sports, the Rio de Janeiro-based club have submitted a rival bid for Medina, though as per this report, it currently stands way below Boca Juniors $12m demand for Medina.
Lauded by Goal as a ‘special’ prospect, the race to sign Medina is beginning to heat up, with Inter Miami now facing some real competition for the youngster’s signature.
However, whilst Botafogo could now win the race for Medina, the pull of Inter Miami and Lionel Messi could be what gets the Herons over the finish line in their bid to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.
Inter Miami can beat Botafogo for Cristian Medina this January

Medina’s stock over the last 12 months has ballooned after Boca Juniors latest run to the Copa Libertadores final, with Inter Miami now looking to make an ambitious move for the midfielder.
Yet whilst Botafogo have the reputation and the finances to bring Medina to Brazil, Inter Miami shouldn’t be so quick to rule themselves out of the race.
As we know, the Herons are one of the most attractive clubs to play for in the Americas after the signings of Messi, Sergio Busquets and now Luis Suarez.
And Medina could be tempted to make the move to Florida this winter if an improved offer can be made, something Inter Miami could well do in the coming days.
