Inter Miami are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, who is due to leave the Spanish giants this summer.

The Herons have been linked with the veteran midfielder for some time, with Modric yet to officially decide where his next and presumably final career step will be having spent the last 12 years at Madrid.

With the 38-year-old midfielder’s contract due to expire at the end of this season, Modric has the world at his feet in regards to which club the former Croatian international wants to join.

And according to Cadena SER, Inter Miami are interested in Modric, with the Herons willing to offer the Madrid maestro a decent financial package that would meet MLS requirements under their current restrictions.

Indeed, with Inter Miami spending big on the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez, adding Modric to the mix could result in some salary problems despite what’s being reported.

Moreover, whilst Modric would be another huge name for MLS, the 38-year-old isn’t exactly what Inter Miami are looking for in the market this year.

Inter Miami have made their point known in the last eight months that they are now the flagship MLS franchise for superstar players having signed Messi, Busquets and Suarez.

And whilst Modric would be another fantastic addition, the Croatian midfielder simply isn’t what the Herons are looking for in the market.

As we know, Inter Miami’s backline is in need of a quality addition, whilst in the midfield a younger and more dynamic option would be of use rather than another aging superstar.

MLS could be a great home for Modric in the final years of his career, but for Inter Miami, the midfielder might not be of much use despite the possibility of the Madrid legend playing alongside Messi.
