The January transfer window has been an interesting one for Inter Miami, who this month look ready to make a number of statement signings.
With one player through the door already in MLS veteran Fafa Picault, Javier Mascherano’s side are only just getting started, with Inter Miami closing in on deals to sign Casa Pia midfielder Telasco Segovia and San Lorenzo defender Gonzalo Lujan.
Another player Inter Miami have been linked with is Racing Club talent Baltasar Rodriguez, with the Argentina youth international emerging as a target for a number of MLS clubs after an impressive year in South America.
And Inter Miami are now closing in on a deal for Rodriguez, but at the cost of a youngster heading the other way.

Inter Miami in talks to sign Baltasar Rodriguez on loan with Facundo Farias heading to Racing
According to Cesar Luis Merlo, Inter Miami and Racing are in ‘advanced’ talks over a loan swap deal that will see Rodiguez head to Florida whilst Herons youngster Facundo Farias will join the Argentina side on a similar deal.
Merlo posted: “There are very advanced negotiations for a trade between Inter Miami and Racing. Baltasar Rodriguez would go to Leo Messi’s team and Facundo Farias would come to the Academy. These are two one-year loans with purchase options at similar values.”
With Farias linked with a similar move to Boca Juniors last month, the 22-year-old attacker’s time at Inter Miami already looks to be over despite joining 18 months ago and spending the last year out injured with an ACL tear.
Yet given the nature of the proposed loan swap deal, a year back in Argentina could do the ‘Neymar-like’ Farias a lot of good, with Inter Maimi also getting a top player to replace the forward for the year in Rodriguez.

Farias will need Racing loan move to go perfectly in 2025
Having not featured at all for Inter Miami in 2024, Farias heads into this year playing catch-up with the Herons transforming quite a bit since the forward last played for the club at the tail end of 2023.
Which is why Farias needs this loan spell at Racing to go perfectly, with the 22-year-old still a top prospect and a player who could offer Inter Miami a lot going into the future under new manager Javier Mascherano.
Indeed, Farias only leaving on loan will give the Argentine youngster the belief that there is a spot for him at Inter Miami in 2026, and the attacker will want to show just how good he really is having missed a year due to injury.
