Inter Miami are now reportedly finalizing a deal to sign Luis Suarez on a one-year deal having become a free-agent this month.

The 36-year-old Uruguay international has been strongly linked with a move to the Herons for the past few weeks, with Lionel Messi reportedly keen on reuniting with Suarez at Inter Miami.

And now, according to the Athletic, the MLS franchise are now closing in on a breakthrough to sign Suarez, with a one-year contract already in place for the former Gremio striker.

One of the most productive goalscorers this century, Suarez could be a dangerous addition to Inter Miami’s roster having lost Josef Martinez this off-season.

A close friend of Messi’s, the former FC Barcelona man could be a dream signing for Inter Miami, especially having just come off a productive year with Gremio.

And now, a deal is close to being completed to bring Suarez to Florida, with Inter Miami pulling off what could be the signing of the winter window already.

If Messi alone wasn’t enough for Inter Miami to go all the way in MLS next year, adding a striker like Suarez should push the Herons way past the finish line.

Whilst the forward is in the final years of his career, Suarez has shown no sign of slowing down just yet, with the attacker thriving in Brazil this year, one of the most physical leagues in all of South America.

And MLS could be an exciting challenge for Suarez, especially with the Uruguayan now set to reunite with Messi, the player that the striker flourished most alongside.

There’s no telling how good the duo will be at Inter Miami, yet for fans, the promise of Suarez being a Heron is an enticing one heading into 2024.
