Inter Miami are reportedly now pushing hard to sign River Plate midfielder Agustin Palavecino after Facindo Farias’ massive injury blow.

The Argentine attacker suffered an ACL injury in Inter Miami’s first pre-season fixture, ruling Farias out for the season in what is a devastating blow for the Herons.

Farias had been tipped to play a massive role for Inter Miami next season alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, yet work is being done already to replace the young South American.

According to the Athletic, Inter Miami are increasing their efforts to sign Palavecino, with the Florida franchise eager to sign the River Plate star on loan for the season.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Miami this January, and Farias’ injury has now encouraged the Herons to pick up the pace in their move to sign Palavecino.

Indeed, the River Plate midfielder could be excellent cover for Farias, and the MLS franchise picking up the pace to sign Palavecino could lead to a signing being made official soon.

Whilst Palavecino is less attack-minded than Farias, there’s no denying that the Argentine midfielder would be a welcome signing for Inter Miami.

The creative maestro will add a lot of technical quality to the Herons midfield alongside Sergio Busquets, with Messi and Suarez set to benefit greatly from Palavecino’s arrival.

Although the 27-year-old isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Farias, there’s no denying that Palavecino will be a welcome addition in Florida, with Inter Miami in need of a creative central midfielder.
