It has now been confirmed that Luis Suarez will not be joining the Barcelona reunion at Inter Miami, but there is now room for another superstar to join.
Inter Miami had bought an additional International roster space to accommodate Suarez, but they have failed to agree a deal with Gremio, and the Uruguayan will now not be reunited with Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.
This means that the space is still open for Messi to potentially bring one of his other old teammates back, and Andres Iniesta has been linked.
One of his old Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain or Argentina teammates could come join the effort to lift Miami off the bottom of the Eastern Conference. We’ve picked out three potential players who may want to be reunited with Messi in Miami.
Sergi Roberto
Like Busquets, Roberto has been at Barcelona for the entirety of his career, but he has played a backup utility role in recent seasons, appearing both in defence and in midfield.
The 31-year-old is appearing less and less frequently, and Barcelona manager Xavi is now reportedly unhappy with him as a depth option, believing he is no longer at the level required.
He could be an option to play alongside Busquets in midfield, or rotate with DeAndre Yedlin at right-back, and with one year remaining on his deal, he could be open to a move.

Pedro Rodriguez
Pedro was a crucial part of the Barcelona sides under Pep Guardiola alongside Messi and David Villa in attack, and the 35-year-old currently finds himself at Lazio in Serie A.
The winger could reunite with Messi in the attacking line, having enjoyed a hugely successful career in Europe at Barcelona, Chelsea, Roma and Lazio, but it remains to be seen whether he would want to play in the Champions League with Lazio first.
Sergio Ramos
Unlike the other options, Ramos was a Real Madrid icon, but played with all three Miami stars, as he lined up alongside Messi at PSG, and played with Busquets and Alba for Spain.
One of the greatest defenders and captains in the history of the game, he could help further strengthen the back line, although there have been question marks over his fitness in recent seasons.
