Suarez reveals Neymar signing ‘difficult’

Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano has explained his transfer ‘worries’ as the team has welcomed very few new faces this offseason.

The club have waved goodbye to many stars. Diego Gomez has joined Brighton and Hove Albion and Leo Campana moved to the New England Revolution.

The Herons have gaps to fill and Neymar has spoken openly about his desire to play with his former teammates, something that Suarez would enjoy.

Speaking on MLS Media Day, Suarez said: “Everyone knows what Neymar is as a player, what we generated, the era we were together, today we are in another era, much older than we were at that time, but it always makes you excited to have a player like him and the quality he can bring to the team.”

Despite pointing out Neymar’s undoubted quality, Suarez explained how tough a deal would be to pull off.

He continued: “Well, as he and everyone else said, anything can happen, but well, these are expectations and illusions that can be generated, but to make them concrete is difficult.”

Mascherano limits Neymar expectations

Inter Miami and Mascherano would love to bolster their squad with a mega addition in the shape of Neymar, however, the MLS salary cap certainly makes things tougher.

Mascherano was asked about the club’s potential of signing the star, his answer wasn’t what Herons fans would want to hear.

He told the media: “Neymar is a great player and everyone wants him, but we currently cannot consider him due to MLS rules regarding the salary cap.

“We are still keeping an eye on the market, we are looking for a defender, our squad is very short.”

While a Neymar deal may be some way off the Inter Miami boss will be distracted with other jobs.

Inter Miami are set to begin talks with Messi over a new contract, and Mascherano is looking to add more signings to join Casa Pia’s Telasco Segovia before the season begins.
