Tata Martino has revealed Inter Miami’s transfer deadline date to complete their dramatic squad overhaul ahead of the 2024 MLS season.
News broke last week that the Herons had to offload a number of players if they were to meet MLS’s strict roster rules regarding total salary, with Inter Miami in need of downsizing their payroll.
Midfielder Gregore has already been sold to Brazillian giants Botofogo with Inter Miami believed to be working on a number of moves behind the scenes to meet MLS’s salary rules.

And speaking to the press via AS, Martino has now revealed that he hopes to have his squad completed in time for the Florida Derby next month against Orlando City, with Inter Miami having little under two weeks to finish their business.
Martino said on Inter Miami’s financial issues: “It all has to do with our salary, it is not just a negotiation. You have to create space and sometimes it’s not even to bring in a player, it’s to start the season without problems.
“Sometimes you have to get rid of players at the last minute that you don’t want to leave, but since they have a market and there is a significant amount of money, this happens. My wish is that for Orlando we have the complete squad.”
Inter Miami might have too little time left to complete transfers

Inter Miami have potentially shot themselves in the foot yet again by overspending on salaries and potentially breaking rules MLS have set in place.
Whilst a real argument can be made that MLS themselves should have relaxed spending on players wages and potentially increased the salary cap, Inter Miami have to share the majority of the blame for this latest episode.
The Herons now find themselves in a position where they have to sell one or even two more senior players in order to become roster-compliant for the new MLS season.
And with Martino setting a deadline for March 2nd, Inter Miami might have too little time to actually get everything done, causing some potential problems.
