Inter Miami have reportedly reached an agreement to sell Gregore to Botafogo, with the midfielder not featuring against Newell’s Old Boys tonight.

The 29-year-old midfielder was yesterday named as one of the five players the Herons have put up for sale amid reports that Inter Miami had to shed some of their salary to meet roster requirements.

With Gregore not named in Inter Miami’s squad this evening to face Newell’s Old Boys, there were rumors that the Brazilian midfielder could be one of the players Tata Martino was planning on sale.

And now, according to Globo, news has broke that Brazilian side Botafogo have reached an agreement to sign Gregore, with the midfielder set to be sold for around $3m.

With Inter Miami in a position to sell, offloading a former Designated Player for an actual transfer fee is impressive work by the Herons heading into the MLS season.

And for Gregore, a return back to Brazil is a good career decision for the midfielder, who last year spent the majority of the season out injured.

Gregore always looked like a likely candidate to be sold by Inter Miami had the Herons been forced into a position to sell a big-name player.

And with such a situation materializing, the Florida franchise have done well to hash out a deal with Botafogo to sell Gregore, with Inter Miami getting a decent fee for the midfielder.

With the 29-year-old hardly playing last season, Inter Miami have done the right decision in allowing the Brazilian to return to his home country with Botafogo.

And Gregore can now start working on getting his career back on track, with the midfielder ready to make up for lost time spent on the treatment table last year.
