Inter Miami could reportedly be forced to dip into the transfer market if Sergio Busquets’ injury is worse than first feared.
The 35-year-old midfielder was forced off yesterday in Inter Miami’s pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe, with Busquets on the receiving end of a bad tackle to the ankle early on in the fixture.
Whilst reports suggest that Inter Miami officials are confident that Busquets will be fine ahead of the new MLS season, the worry is still there that the injury could be worse after scans.
And according to AS, the Herons could be forced into a position where they’ll have to sign a replacement for Busquets, with Inter Miami already on the hunt for another central midfielder.
Although cap space is limited, all signs currently point towards Inter Miami making roster moves that could result in the Herons having the funds needed to pull off such a signing.
However, it would be a surprise to many if Inter Miami were forced to bring in two midfielders, a situation that few fans will want to see at the cost of Busquets being out injured.
Inter Miami can’t replace Sergio Busquets in the transfer market
Although Busquets is in the twilight of his career, many pundits and fans will agree that Inter Miami will struggle to replace the midfielder no matter how much they have at their disposal.
The 35-year-old midfielder is one of the most unique players on the planet and a talent that only comes around once in a generation, with FC Barcelona and Spain benefiting from Busquets’ genius.
And for Inter Miami, it will be almost impossible for the Herons to find a replacement for Busquets in the transfer market given how much quality the veteran has.
Indeed, the Florida franchise can try, but potentially replacing Busquets will be a tall order for Inter Miami to fulfil, especially with limited funds and time on their hands.
