Luis Suárez bowed out for Gremio in style

In his final match for the Brazilian club, the 36-year-old scored a brace against Fluminense ahead of his reported move to Inter Miami.

Despite comments about his poor knees, Suárez looked alert and sharp, as he helped Gremio finish second in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The Uruguayan finishes his time with the Imortal Tricolor, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.

According to The Miami Herald, the former Barcelona man is finalizing a one-year deal to join Inter Miami in January.

Though Suárez shied away from explicitly talking about the ongoing negations, he did mention in an interview with Uruguayan TV station Telemundo 12 that signing with the South Florida club was a ‘possibility.’

Suárez has been linked with a move to Inter Miami since the summer.

Although the Herons couldn’t bring him to the club then, the Uruguayan will more than likely wear a pink and black jersey in 2024. Regardless of the striker’s knee issues, it’s evident based on his time in Brazil that he’ll add dynamism to a Miami attack.

In 33 league games for Gremio this year, the ex-Liverpool star tallied up 17 goals and 11 assists. With Messi providing him in attack in 2024, the sky is the limit for Miami’s offense.

Next season will be an important year for the club, Suárez aside.

Not only will they look to add to their trophy cabinet, but also to grow and build the brand.

Miami will play in numerous tournaments next year. Extra depth and quality are needed if the South Florida side wants to win more silverware.

Whatever the offseason brings for the Herons, there’s still quite a ways to go before the season kicks off in late February.
