The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio has issued an Inter Miami roster update ahead of tonight’s MLS opener against Real Salt Lake.
Reports emerged last week that the Herons had to make sales if they were to meet MLS’s roster and budget restrictions, with Inter Miami spending big this winter on the likes of Luis Suarez and Julian Gressel.
With the Florida side already found guilty once in their short history for breaking MLS roster and salary rules, fears have grown in recent days that the Florida franchise could be punished once again for over-spending.
Inter Miami now roster compliment ahead of MLS opener vs Real Salt Lake
Yet according to Tenorio on Twitter, Inter Miami’s sale of Gregore to Brazilian giants Gregore has cleared the way for Tata Martino’s side to meet MLS roster and salary requirements heading into tonight’s opener against Real Salt Lake.
With Coco Jean also being released last night, Inter Miami are in a very safe position with their salary for the new MLS season, with the Herons expected to complete the signing of Federico Redondo in the coming days.
Indeed, Inter Miami are the clear favorite to win MLS Cup this season with Lionel Messi and company also expected to challenge for the CONCACAF Champions Cup and US Open Cup.
And with the squad now hitting MLS’s strict rules, Inter Miami need to ensure they remain in the sweet spot where they aren’t forced into a position to sell players, with the squad now hitting a good balance.
Inter Miami can’t afford to dance with punishment again

Inter Miami are already viewed in quite a negative light by American supporters after their previous tangles with the law and breaking certain codes.
Which is why after this latest dance with fate, the Florida franchise simply can’t afford to mess up again, especially with the squad arguably the best the division has ever seen.
Inter Miami have the chance to make history this season if the right players can stay fit, and the Herons can’t shoot themselves in the foot by trying to be too greedy and again thinking their above the law in MLS.
